Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about UV-C sterilization, UV POD products, and our policies.
UV-C Technology
How does UV-C sterilization work?▼
UV-C light at the 254 nm germicidal wavelength penetrates the cell walls of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, disrupting their DNA and RNA so they can no longer reproduce or cause infection. UV POD devices deliver a concentrated UV-C dose in 60 seconds — enough to eliminate 99.9% of pathogens on surfaces and objects.
Is UV-C light safe?▼
UV-C light is safe when used correctly inside a closed chamber. UV POD sterilizer boxes are designed with a sealed lid and an automatic safety shut-off: the UV-C cycle stops immediately if the lid is opened mid-cycle, so you are never exposed to the germicidal light. Do not look directly at the UV-C LEDs or expose skin while the device is running.
What pathogens does UV-C kill?▼
UV POD devices have been independently tested and certified effective against SARS-CoV-2, MRSA, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, H1N1 influenza, and a broad spectrum of other bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Tests are conducted by SGS — one of the world's leading testing and certification companies.
Will UV-C light damage my electronics or items?▼
No. Unlike steam or chemical sanitizers, UV-C light produces no heat and leaves no residue. It is safe for smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, sunglasses, credit cards, keys, baby accessories, and virtually all everyday items. UV-C does not affect plastics, metals, glass, or rubber.
How long does a sterilization cycle take?▼
Most UV POD devices complete a full germicidal cycle in 60 seconds. Some larger professional-grade models have longer cycles. The cycle time is indicated in each product's specifications.
Products & Use
What can I put in a UV POD sterilizer box?▼
Anything that fits inside the chamber: smartphones, keys, wallets, AirPods, glasses, remote controls, CPAP masks, baby bottles and pacifiers, makeup brushes, retainers, and more. Do not place liquids directly inside the chamber.
Are UV POD devices suitable for CPAP masks?▼
Yes. The CPAP UV-C Sterilizer Box is specifically sized to accommodate CPAP masks, headgear, and short hose sections. UV-C sterilization replaces the daily soap-and-water wash — just place the mask inside, close the lid, and run a 60-second cycle. Many sleep specialists recommend UV-C as a complement to weekly deep cleaning.
What is the difference between the portable bag and the sterilizer box?▼
The sterilizer boxes (S1, S2, T1, T5) are rigid hard-shell units designed for home use on a countertop. The portable bags (P18, P26 XL) are soft foldable pouches with 24 UV-C LEDs around the interior, designed for travel and larger or irregularly shaped items. The X5 UV-C Wand is a handheld device for sanitizing flat surfaces.
What is the 2-in-1 Ultrasonic & UV-C Cleaner used for?▼
The KF240 combines ultrasonic cavitation (which removes dirt and debris physically) with a UV-C sterilization cycle. It is ideal for jewelry, watches, retainers, dental appliances, glasses, and small precision items. The ultrasonic tank is filled with water; the UV-C LEDs activate after the ultrasonic cycle completes.
Do UV POD products require a power outlet?▼
The countertop sterilizer boxes plug into a standard wall outlet via USB or DC adapter (included). The portable wand and bags charge via USB and can run on battery for travel. Specific power requirements are listed on each product page.
Certifications & Safety
Are UV POD devices FDA registered?▼
Yes. All UV POD devices are FDA registered as germicidal UV-C products. FDA registration means the device has been reviewed and is listed in the FDA's official database of medical-grade devices. Every product also carries CE certification (European conformity) and FCC certification (electromagnetic compliance).
What does SGS certified mean?▼
SGS is one of the world's largest independent testing and certification companies. SGS certification on UV POD products confirms that the UV-C efficacy claims (99.9% pathogen elimination) have been independently verified in a laboratory setting — not just stated by the manufacturer.
